Originally from the southern United States, I was raised with classic games, movies, stories, and pop culture... essentially all the makings of a nerd in training. I gravitated toward the computers and video games from an early age and was always fascinated with them, and how they have triggered particular memories, and or helped relax when I needed a break.
A long time ago I had goals of wanting to design or write games growing up, because of the impact that they had on me, and wanted to tell stories that people could get immersed in.
I spent a little time in college, and then for most of my formative years, I spent a lot of time on the east coast, including time in New England and drifting down to the down various parts, eventually finding a nice little spot out east.
I am a Military Veteran. I have been playing games for a variety of reasons. I am a huge movie buff. I have been a writer and editor. I have been a movie producer... and I just want to find ways to share some of my knowledge and these experiences with pop culture that I have had, because they might be new for some people.
I am a veteran of the United States military, and spending time in both the Submarine Warfare and Cyber Warfare communities. I have been given a lot of amazing opportunities in my time in service and had to sacrifice quite a bit in that time as well.
To put it simply, I joined because I wanted to do a part to make sure that my family and friends were protected. I stayed in because there were people that I learned a lot from, and I could offer a lot to and though teaching and mentorship. I love to try to give back in various forms when I can in support of USO, StackUp, TAPS, Wounded Warriors, and Wreaths Across America to name a few.
I set over ten world records in speed running for the Texas Instruments, TI-99/4A computer game Tunnels of Doom which was released in 1982 and was the first to speedrun that game.
The reason that I wanted to snag this record, was this is a not talked about classic and means a lot to me personally, because I have memories of playing the game with my family growing up. I would like to try showcase this at an event someday. Even if it is as an exhibition, I feel this is a highlight in video game history and should be remembered and celebrated.
I was given the opportunity once to attend a premiere for an independent movie, through a few friends I knew. After that, I got a chance of a lifetime to help with the production of a horror film and was given a full producer credit.
I now have enough experience in the film industry to know better but would not trade it for anything. It is something that I can point to and say I did and have it as a part of my career history and my own filmography.
I got a chance to work with a consultant group a long time ago and have a short list of "published works" through that effort. I was a technical consultant and editor on several technical educational publications, most of which are out of print now, but I have managed to obtain copies of them.
I am extremely proud to have had a part in helping people learn and develop skills while challenging myself to obtain the knowledge to make sure I am speaking with expertise. It gave me the foundation for my career and thirst for knowledge going forward.
